  • What is public trust? How does society shape it? Transparent Trust, attempts to explore the idea of trust through a simple yet visceral idea: Do people trust one another to donate money in a non-secure receptacle? We are constantly barraged by donation receptacles such as change donation boxes at the check-out aisles. All of these containers share the same attribute: they are all locked, which deter would be thieves. The point that these receptacles make is, society does not trust other people not to steal. Plexiglass will rise 2 ½ ft from the bottom of the wall to produce a transparent trust mechanism. The window is not high enough to identify those inside the inner sanctuary, yet it does allow outside viewers to surveil the donation bowl.
