  • The culmination of a three-year collaboration, “Hear & Now” aims to conduct a community-wide conversation about the perceptions exchanged between the housed and unhoused through a local tour over the course of 2019.

In the summer of 2017, artist Trimpin and Path with Art artists began collaboratively envisioning, designing, and creating a kinetic sound sculpture, constructed from a wagon built by Trimpin’s father during his childhood in Germany. The sculpture includes original visual artwork, poetry, and musical compositions created by PWA artists who have lived experience of homelessness; in Trimpin’s words, it is “a metaphor for being in constant transition.”

Exclusively at the 2019 Design Festival, “Hear & Now” will be sheltered by a structure composed of found materials, providing additional commentary on Seattle’s current state of housing instability.

Path with Art transforms the lives of people recovering from homelessness, addiction, and other trauma by harnessing the power of creative engagement as a bridge to community and a path to stability. We envision a world where arts engagement is recognized as transformative – connecting the individual with self, the self with community, and communities with society. In this world, the power of arts engagement is available for all. For more information, visit pathwithart.org.
