This year, Design in Public will host its first-ever benefit breakfast to bring together our community of designers and enthusiasts in support of our ongoing work to celebrate all the ways that design has a powerful impact in our lives. We are committed to fostering imagination, vision and public participation in the creation of the places we all want to live. A great venue, good food, and inspiring speakers come together for a don’t-miss event.
SUPPORT OUR VISION
The tremendous growth of the Seattle Design Festival is evidence of the need and desire for more public design programming. From only 2,000 attendees in its first year in 2011, the Festival grew in 2016 to an audience of 30,000, attending 100 community events and installations across the city. In 2017, we have the opportunity to elevate the power of design with SDF17: POWER, and expanded our public programs and exhibits throughout the year with your support. We appreciate your generosity and encourage all guests to commit to a gift of at least $150.
This year’s Breakfast keynote speaker, Surya Vanka, is the founder of AUTHENTIC, a consultancy specializing in user experience and the design process. He was previously director of user experience at Microsoft, and has worked as a designer, educator and author at the leading edge of physical and digital experiences for more than 25 years. Vanka is also the creator of the acclaimed Design Swarm process, a technique for groups to uncover possible solutions to difficult social and business problems such as digital inclusion and homelessness.
