Turning Barriers into Thresholds: Eliminating Imbalance and Inequality in Seattle
Barrier – a circumstance or obstacle that keeps people or things apart or prevents communication or progress
Threshold – a point of entry or beginning; the magnitude or intensity that must be exceeded for a certain reaction, phenomenon, result, or condition to occur or be manifested
Join us for an interactive discussion on imbalance and inequity throughout the City of Seattle examined through a multitude of lenses including physical, environmental, socio-economic, technological and psychological barriers. Panelists will present brief case-studies on transforming barriers into thresholds for revitalized space, use and opportunity across various project types in our neighborhoods. Following will be a moderated Q&A session used to identify existing underserved areas and brainstorm ideas of how to design for balance and equity. The public are encouraged to attend and share examples of barriers and thresholds in their locality.
