  • 2017 SEATTLE DESIGN FESTIVAL CORE COMMITTEES

Whether you are a design professional, a passionate design enthusiast, or you just want to have fun while supporting the design community, #SDF2017 is your stage. No design or work experience is necessary – just be committed, reliable, and a team player. Here’s a sampling of volunteer roles where you can contribute:

  • Block Party: Do you love swinging hammers, bringing design directly into public spaces, and working with contractors and crews to build public artworks? Support the layout, logistics, and build-out of the signature Seattle Design Festival Kick-Off Block Party in Occidental Park.

  • Design Discussions: Push the level of design discourse in Seattle by planning and scheduling the #DesignChange Conference, a day-long event bringing together community activists, designers, professionals, city officials, and visiting luminaries.

  • Community Programs: Bring Design to every Seattle neighborhood by working with our 100+ community program partners to link their events to the festival and ensure they are successful.

  • AfterParty: Throw an unforgettable bash that’s sure to be Seattle’s most fun Design party of the year, as well as the Seattle Design Festival’s premiere fundraiser and celebration.

  • Volunteer Coordinator: Get to know everyone in Seattle and manage the volunteer staff who keep the Festival running!

  • OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Marketing and Publicity: Are you a social butterfly who attends every lecture, art opening, tour, and industry or community gathering? Help get the word out about the Seattle Design Festival! Hand out information cards at local art walks and farmer’s markets, and distribute posters in and around Seattle. Or, tell people about the festival on social media and other online sites you visit.

  • Audience Assistance: Happy to put on a smile and answer questions or give directions? Try your hand as entry greeter and crowd surveyor at the Block Party, make sure the Design Discussion presentations flow smoothly all day, or meet Seattle’s top designers at the After Party.

  • Logistics: Like to use your muscle? Like to plan events? Then light setup and take-down for events and being an overall troubleshooter might suit you.

  • Photographers and Videographers: Are you a professional or amateur photographer or videographer? Give back to our community efforts by documenting our free, open-to-the-public annual event.
