Re/Balance creates a multi-faceted, multi-orientation installation, that seeks to illustrate the inherent imbalances in our current society and the need to cooperate in order for thriving communities and a fair share of power.
Designed to allow different seating arrangements, the object rotates to accommodate various numbers of people to interact, or sit privately. The interactions of the users mirrors our everyday need for cooperation, or lack there of, in allowing everyone to coexist peacefully.
The faceted form also creates opportunities for improvisation, and creative uses of different planes. This mimics our ability to subvert repressive power structures to create new communities, or disrupt the status quo to create opportunities.
